Fourth Saturday of Lent, St. Hypatius, Bishop of Gangra

 

This service is chanted as on the Second Saturday of Lent (March 17), from the Octoechos (Tone 3) and from the service of St. Hypatius, Bishop of Gangra (March 31).

Lord, I have cried, Tone 7, on 10: Idiomelon in the Triodion (My soul's dignity), x2; Martyrs 4 (Great is the power of the martyrs – from Friday evening vespers in the Octoechos and LTS, p. 319); Hierarch 4 (O divinely wise Hypatius); G: Hymn for the dead, from the Octoechos, Tone 3 (All human things are vain); N: Dogmatic Theotokion, Tone 3 (How can we not marvel).

Entry with the censer; O Gladsome Light; Prokimenon of the Triodion, Tone 4: O Shepherd of Israel, attend, Thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Reading: Gen. 12:1-7. Prokimenon of the Triodion, Tone 4: Rejoice in God our helper. Reading: Prov. 14:15-26.
