Translation of the Relics of Ss. Cyrus and John
Beatitudes on 8 Octoechos 4; Saints 4, from Ode 3.
1. Of old was Adam banished from paradise through the tree, but by the tree of the Cross hath the thief come to dwell in paradise: the one by tasting rejected the commandment of the Creator, but the other, crucified with Christ, confessed the hidden God, crying out: Remember me in Thy kingdom!
2. Afire with the love of Christ, O holy martyrs, with the dew of your struggles ye quenched the fire of ungodliness; and ye were shown to be greatly radiant lamps of the Church, driving the darkness of infirmities and tribulations from our souls by your goodness; wherefore, we praise you as is meet.
3. O sacred hierarchs, ye divine company of the prophets, ye choir of the venerable, ye sole procession of holy women, who pleased God with virtuous acts and have been glorified: We bless you, praying through your entreaties, that we may receive enlightenment and life everlasting.
4. Where Thy light shineth, and where the choirs of the saints rejoice, whence sighing and pain are fled, do Thou number Thy servants, who have reposed in times past and departed this most painful life, O Christ, that they may hymn Thine ineffable goodness; and overlook the transgressions they committed on earth.
5. Risen from the tomb, Thou didst meet the myrrh-bearing women; and Thou didst tell Thy disciples to announce Thine arising.
6. Those who slept in darkness, beholding Thee, the Light, in the nethermost parts of hades, O Christ, were raised from the dead.
5. Thou didst hone Thy saints with faith, O Christ, didst forge them with hope, and fire them with love; and with tridents Thou didst fashion for them a three-stranded wreath.
6. Valiantly did ye withstand the ungodly tyrants, O invincible martyrs, passing unharmed over the snares of deception; for, having been armed by Christ, ye rejoice with Him.
7. Like divinely erected pillars and firm foundations, the martyrs were planted upon the rock of the ascent of Faith, having drunk the water of immortality from the Rock that is the chalice of Christ.
8. Thou becamest the dwelling-place of the Spirit, having received the Fullness of the Godhead in the Son and given birth to the Savior, Lord, and Deliverer of our race.
At the entrance, the choir sings:
O come let us worship and fall down before Christ, Who art wondrous in the saints, O Son of God, save us who sing to Thee: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Troparia & Kontakia
Tone 2: O Apostles, Martyrs, and Prophets, /
Venerable and Righteous Ones; /
ye that have accomplished a good labor and kept the Faith, /
that have boldness before the Savior; O Good Ones, //
intercede for us, we pray, that our souls be saved.
Tone 5: O Christ God Who hast given us the miracles of Thy holy martyrs /
as an invincible rampart, /
through their supplications set at nought the counsels of the heathen /
and strengthen the scepters of kings, //
in that Thou alone art good and lovest mankind.
Tone 3: Receiving the gift of miracles from grace divine, /
O saints, ye work wonders unceasingly, /
cutting down all our passions with invisible skill, /
O divinely wise Cyrus and glorious John; //
for ye are divine physicians.
Glory… Tone 8:
With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants, //
where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.
Both now… Tone 8:
In thee we have a wall and a haven, and an intercessor acceptable to God, //
Whom thou didst bear, O Theotokos unwedded, salvation of the faithful.
