At Ode 9, we do not sing More Honorable. We instead sing the refrains of the Feast: Magnify, O my soul, the Lord Who was transfigured on Tabor, with the canon of the feast

Liturgy: The Festal Antiphons are sung in place of the usual Typical Psalms and Beatitudes.

At the entrance, the deacon (or priest if there is no deacon) says the Festal Introit in place of the usual O come let us worship: O Lord, send out Thy Light and Thy truth; they have guided me along the way, and have brought me unto Thy holy mountain. And immediately the Troparion of the feast (Thou wast transfigured on the mountain), G/N: Kontakion of the feast (On the mount Thou wast transfigured).

Epistle: II Pet. 1:10-19 (§65).

Alleluia, Tone 8.

Gospel: Matt. 17:1-9 (§70).

Instead of It is truly meet, we sing the refrain Magnify, O my soul, with the Irmos of the Ninth Ode, first canon (Thy birthgiving was undefiled).

Communion Hymn: O Lord, in the light of Thy face shall we walk, and in Thy name shall we rejoice forever.

After the prayer behind the Ambon, the priest censes the grapes, apples, and other fruits. Then: Let us pray to the Lord, and the prayer for the blessing of grapes, and then again, Let us pray to the Lord, and the prayer for the them that offer first fruits (apples and other fruits), and they are sprinkled with Holy Water. (These prayers are found in the Book of Needs, the Festal Menaion, and in the Hapgood service book). We then sing the Troparion and Kontakion of the Feast, Blessed be the name of the Lord, and the rest as usual.

Festal Dismissal: May Christ our true God, Who on Mount Tabor was transfigured in glory before His holy disciples and apostles. And the blessed grapes are distributed with the Antidoron.
