festal antiphons are sung in place of the usual Typical Psalms and Beatitudes.
At the entrance, the deacon (or priest if there is no deacon) says the Festal Introit in place of the usual O come let us worship: O Lord, send out Thy Light and Thy truth; they have guided me along the way, and have brought me unto Thy holy mountain. And immediately the Troparion of the feast (Thou wast transfigured on the mountain), G/N: Kontakion of the feast (On the mount Thou wast transfigured).

Instead of It is truly meet, we sing the refrain Magnify, O my soul, with the Irmos of
the first canon of the ninth Ode (Thy
birthgiving was undefiled).

After the prayer behind the
Ambon, the priest censes the grapes, apples, and other fruits. Then: Let us pray to the Lord, and the prayer
for the blessing of grapes, and then again, Let
us pray to the Lord, and the prayer for the them that offer first fruits
(apples and other fruits), and they are sprinkled with Holy Water. (These
prayers are found in the Book of Needs, the Festal Menaion, and in the Hapgood
